In 2023, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui jointly established the Laser Industry Alliance, initially incorporating over 60 enterprises and research institutions. The alliance will concentrate on critical technologies such as high-power lasers, establishing an industrial fund of nearly 1 billion yuan to support commercialisation. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China's laser equipment market exceeds 150 billion yuan, with the Yangtze River Delta accounting for 40% of production capacity. The alliance projects that the regional industry scale will surpass 200 billion yuan by 2025, providing support for new energy and aerospace sectors while reducing costs by 15% through centralised procurement.
